A cache is a collection of data from frequently visited websites. By saving this data, your browser loads it faster for the next time the website is visited. Occasionally there can be an error in the way that your browser saves new data to the cache, which may cause problems when websites are loading.
Clearing your cache is a bit like taking out the rubbish.
Click your browser for instructions.
Google Chrome
- Open Google Chrome and click the Menu Button ☰ in the top right corner of the window and select History, (or alternatively if you use a Mac, press History in the drop-down menu on the top of the screen)
- Click Clear Browsing Data.
- Select the time range and what options you would like to clear, including Browsing History, Cookies, and Cache, then click Clear Data.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox and click the Menu button ☰ in the top right corner of the window.
- Click History, and then Clear Recent History.
- Select the time range and the options that you would like to clear, including Cache, Cookies and History and click Ok.
Safari
- Open Safari and click the History button in the top menu bar.
- Select Clear History from the drop-down menu.
- Select the time range you would like to clear from and click Clear History.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge and click the three dots button in the top right corner.
- Select History and then Clear Browsing Data.
- Select the time range and which options to clear, including Cache, Cookies and Browsing History.
