What is EmuProtect?
EmuProtect is a revolutionary all-encompassing license, designed to manage, secure and backup ALL endpoints under a single, low-cost subscription.
What is included in EmuProtect?
EmuProtect? includes up to seven unique components:
- MANAGE: RMM
- SECURE: Antivirus, 3rd Party Patching, EDR, Ransomware Detection, Managed Detection & Response/SOC (Pro version only)
- BACKUP: Endpoint Backup
Each component is tied to a specific Kaseya product:
- RMM – Datto RMM, VSA 10 or VSA 9 (current users only)
- Endpoint Backup – Datto/Unitrends Endpoint Backup
- Antivirus – Datto AV
- 3rd Party Patching – Advanced Software Management (Datto RMM or VSA)
- Ransomware Detection – Datto EDR
- Endpoint Detection and Response: Datto EDR
- Managed Detection and Response/SOC: RocketCyber (Pro subscription only)
How is EmuProtect Sold?
EmuProtect is sold in two different tiers:
- Protect (includes all 7 components)
- Protect 365 Express (does not include MDR/SOC)
How does the upgrade process to EmuProtect work for current EmuProtect customers?
Existing components of EmuProtect can be upgraded through a simple process that protects investments and functionalities, including equal license counts and locked-in pricing for additional growth support. Because every EmuProtect customer has a different EmuProtect estate, upgrade inquiries should be made through their account manager or EmuProtect One account.
Why are other products/functions not included?
EmuProtect is designed to provide the essential needs of Endpoint Management, Security, and Backup, which is the reason the specific functions were included. Other modules often have different licensing terms (data capacity, technician/user licenses, etc.) that don’t currently fit this single subscription model which is focused on ENDPOINTS.
How does EmuProtect impact other EmuProtect products?
All other EmuProtect products within EmuProtect’s Complete platform are available as add-ons using the standard licensing terms available today. This gives our partners a scalable solution that includes the essential functions for endpoint management, security, backup and automation, while allowing them to continue toward a complete solution with IT Complete.
Can I still buy a component of EmuProtect on its own?
Yes, the components of EmuProtect can be still purchased individually, however, the price/endpoint of EmuProtect is so low that customers can essentially get numerous components for free, and if they don’t want to use other components immediately they can turn them on at any point without paying a penny more.
Alternatively, you can always purchase an individual component of Protect and choose to upgrade to EmuProtect 365 later.
Are there any minimums or requirements for EmuProtect?
EmuProtect is available as a new or upgrade license to all existing Kaseya customers.
Customers who currently subscribe to one or more of the components in EmuProtect and want to upgrade must upgrade to their highest endpoint count amongst the components.
The minimum endpoint purchase for customers who do not currently subscribe to any of the components in EmuProtect is 50.
If a customer currently subscribes to RockeyCyber (the MDR/SOC component of EmuProtect), then they must include their current RocketCyber license count in their upgrade to EmuProtect
Do all components in a EmuProtect license have to be used for the same account/customer?
Yes. A EmuProtect subscription includes the essentials to manage, secure, backup and automate each and every endpoint under an IT professional’s care. Fragmenting those solutions would leave some endpoints vulnerable. These functions are ESSENTIAL to the performance of any endpoint and therefore are provided together in this single subscription for endpoints.
What RMM do I need to have in order to upgrade to EmuProtect
The RMM component of EmuProtect can be either VSA or Datto RMM. VSA 9 users are not required to have VSA 10 to upgrade to EmuProtect, however, VSA 9 is only included as the RMM component of EmuProtect for current VSA 9 users and can not be purchased new. The other components of EmuProtect, including Advanced Software Management and Ransomware Detection work seamlessly with all three RMM options.
What are the key benefits of EmuProtect?
The low-cost subscription price for EmuProtect allows MSPs to more than double their profit margin and MME IT professionals to significantly reduce their tool expense.

How much storage is included in the Endpoint Backup component?
EmuProtect customers who subscribe to EmuProtect have 5TB of total, pooled storage to use for backing up all of their EmuProtect endpoints with the Endpoint Backup component.
The 5TB of storage is included in the EmuProtect license to give everyone a starting point to trial Endpoint Backup without incurring additional cost.
If total storage exceeds the 5TB, an additional charge will be applied to monthly invoices as specified in the subscription agreement.
What are the essential 20 automations of EmuProtect
The Essential 20 Automations streamline workflows, reduce manual errors, and facilitate quicker and easier execution of complex tasks through specific automated functions like endpoint shortcuts, policy synchronizations, and deployment processes. Your account manager can share the list and details of each one with you. You can find a list of these automations here.
What happens to an active 3rd party AV contract if purchased via EmuProtect?
If a customer’s current 3rd party AV solution was purchased via EmuProtect , upon upgrading to EmuProtect the related spend will be converted to their EmuProtect subscription with the Datto AV component and the customer will have 90 days to migrate to Datto AV.
