Telstra has a brand new SCAM Filtering system, blocking spam text messages before they even reach you

We know that scam text messages are on the rise – in 2021, Telstra had more than 11,000 reports of malicious texts to Android devices compared to 50 reports in 2020. That’s why they’ve turned on a brand-new SMS scam filter feature to better protect you from these scams by blocking them at the network level before they even reach your mobile device.

Scam text messages are not only annoying, they’re also malicious and have the potential to steal your money or install malware to steal personal information, hack your internet banking and infect your contacts. With this new feature, Telstra can help to keep you safe from these scams and protect your personal information.

If you think you’ve received a scam text message, please forward it to us so Telstra can investigate and take action to protect our customers. You can forward the message to 7726 (SPAM) free of charge, and they will block the sender’s number from sending any more messages to our customers.

Together, we can all get involved to help to keep ourselves and our customers safe from scams and protect their personal information. More information here.
